Woburn Sands Band Celebrate the Official Opening of the New Vestries It's done. On Saturday 25th October 2008, the Woburn Sands (B) Band, expertly conducted by Karen Boote, helped us to celebrate the official opening of the new Vestries. The band played a special fanfare for St Margaret, specifically written for the occasion, along with a selection of rousing music, including Movie Spectaculars, Nessun Dorma and the theme from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We were also entertained with some particularly suitable pieces, including the theme from Clochemerle (the theme from a 1970's sitcom about a French public loo), Unchained Melody and St Louis Blues written by WC Handy. The B Band is one of the training bands of the Woburn Sands Band; some of its members are as young as 10. You would never think it from the quality and confidence of their playing. They did us proud and are thoroughly recommended. To start the evening, Roger blessed the Vestries and performed the first official flush of the new loo. The sound of the amplified flush echoed all around the church's interior.
