Interregnum Arrangements

Arrangements for the Interregnum are as follows:

  • The 8:00 Communion on the last Sunday of the month will continue unchanged.  It will be looked after by St. Luke’s.

  • The 9:30 Parish Communion (variously staffed) will continue unchanged.  In the early days, up to Christmas, there will be more Services of the Word than usual.  Once Martin has qualified to administer Communion by Extension (the Lay Reader administers communion previously consecrated by a priest) then most of the Services will be Communion Services.

  • The 10:00 Seasonal Communion will be suspended.  All the principal Sunday Services will now be at 9:30 am.

  • The 4:00 Songs of Praise on the last Sunday of the month will also be suspended.

  • The 10:15 Wednesday Communion will continue to operate except on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Angela Newton, Curate of St. Augustine’s and wife of the Vicar of Barton, will preside.

  • Baptisms are still being arranged.

  • Weddings will be looked after by the staff of St Luke’s, Leagrave.

  • Funerals will be looked after by Martin, backed up by Richard Franklin, the Vicar of All Saints.

  • Sunday School will operate as normal.  Martin will be its chaplain.

  • As I write, it seems likely that Sunday Club will continue as normal with new leaders assisting Adrian Bell.

  • The 11:15 Family Service, normally on the first Sunday of the month, will continue as normal with Ian Woodward and Martin taking the services.

It all sounds wonderfully straightforward, but it can only be done because a lot of people have been willing to take up a lot of extra work.  Please give to all those who have the job of leading the church during the interregnum your unqualified and unstinting support.  They will need all the help they can get.
