A Poem For Some Computer Users Over 60
A Computer was something on TV,
From a science fiction show of note.
A Window was something you hated to clean,
And a RAM was the Dad of a goat.
MEG was the name of a girlfriend,
And GIG was a job for the nights.
Now they all have different meanings,
And that really Mega Bytes.
An Application was for employment,
A Program was a TV show.
A Cursor was someone who swore a lot,
A Keyboard was a piano.
A Mouse was a four-legged creature,
Memory was lost with old age.
Monitor was a name for a prefect,
And no one had Computer Rage.
Log On was adding wood to a fire,
Hard Drive was going mile after mile.
Compress was something you did to the refuse,
Not something you did to a File.
Cut you did with a sharp knife,
Paste you did with glue.
A Web was a spider's home,
And a Virus was when you had flu.
I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper,
And the Memory in my head.
I hear nobody's been killed in a Computer Crash,
But when it happens they wish they were dead.
