 Family Service

The Family Service is a completely informal gathering, specifically designed for young children and their parents.  It's totally relaxed and any noise your child might make will pass totally unnoticed in the general chaos.

At some of these services we hold a very simple form of communion.  This helps to introduce families to the celebration of the Lord's Supper.

Some of these services are special services and include:

  • The Mothering Sunday Service when the children are given posies to take to their mother.

  • The Easter Family Service when the children are given small chocolate eggs for their personal consumption.

  • The Balloon Service, held around Whitsun, which marks to mark the time when Christianity first began to be spread around the world.  To commemorate this, we all release balloons in the churchyard.  Click here to see more photos of the 2006 Balloon Service.

  • The Harvest Service when the children are invited to bring harvest gifts for later distribution to the sick and housebound of the parish.

  • The Toy Service when the children are invited to bring gifts, toys etc that will provide Christmas presents for children who otherwise will get few, if any, Christmas gifts.

There's a Music Group, which helps us sing along to modern hymns and songs and greatly increases the enjoyment of the service.

Finally, there's also the special Christmas Service:

  • The Crib and Christingle Services - held on Christmas Eve at 4.00 and at 6:00 p.m. These are much loved - many would say pure magic.
