CARE Committee

It's a matter of honour for St. Margaret's that 10% of its income is given away to charity. 

Some goes to support local organisations or to meet local needs. However, most goes to support national and international work to relieve poverty and distress and to help people towards self-sufficiency.  

This aspect of the Church's work is overseen by the CARE Committee who recommend the causes to be supported and who run fund-raising events to directly support this aspect of the church's work.

We formed the CARE Committee in 1992. 

Our aims are to:

• Have CONCERN for those less fortunate than ourselves outside our Parish (locally, nationally and internationally),

• Provide AID to those in need, 

• RESPOND to emergency appeals, 

• Assist EDUCATION overseas and make our parishioners more aware of the needs of others.

The Committee also submits the proposed annual list of donations for PCC approval.  

All members of the Committee aim to be very caring people. 

We are very fortunate to have this band of people who:

• Work very hard to raise both awareness and funds to alleviate the disadvantages and disasters throughout the world, 

• Never forget our local friends in the Parish who often have their traumas too and need a kindly act of friendship along the way. 

However, their work could not go on without the unfailing support of so many people in all aspects of their work, for which they are very grateful. Will you be a supporter of the work of our CARE Committee too?

During 2005, we distributed almost £6,619.63 to 50 different registered charities including:

• Church Overseas Missionary Societies

• Church Overseas Relief & Development Agencies, which including urgent emergency appeals 

• National Charities

• Local Charities

• Uniformed groups connected to the Parish
